Full Moon 1st January –
Well… if you’re reading this, despite the global/ economic/ political fires we’ve been through this year, we’ve SURVIVED. Our little planet is still spinning and we’re still here, a little older and hopefully a bit wiser. Perhaps our consciousness has even been raised a tad, but at the very least I think all the challenges of the past year have got many of us looking at what’s really important in our lives.
FULL MOON 1ST JANUARY
On the very first day of the year, we have a powerfully feminine Full Moon in Cancer, ushering 2018 in with a flourish of grace and gentleness. . She forms part of a water/earth kite, helping us to align our feelings/ hearts desires (water) with our practical goals and ambitions (earth).
With a batch of planets in ambitious Capricorn, this is the time of the year when we generally sit down and scratch our heads / start fretting about… all we need to DO to achieve and manifest in the year ahead. We think about where we “failed” in the past year, what we’re not happy about and what we can improve or change … how we can lose those extra few kilos that we gained over the silly season; set new, better, bigger business goals; work harder, become better people, drink less, earn more, spring clean the house, buy a new X,Y or Z; plan the next holiday
… the list goes on and before we know it we’re back on the treadmill, pedalling for all we’re worth. All a bit exhausting, yes?
The thing is, to some degree, most of us are working on the paradigm of DO, HAVE, BE – if I DO more of this, then I will HAVE that and I will BE happy!
I don’t know about you, but it just doesn’t work for me any more.
BE… DO… HAVE
So… what if we did it differently in the year to come and started off by asking how we want to BE , how we want to FEEL in 2018? By “being” or feeling happy, loving, expansive, we begin to DO things differently, which allows us to HAVE what our hearts (not our heads) desire.
Because when you really think about it, it’s almost always the feeling state we’re after. We want to travel, because it makes us feel expanded. We want more money because it makes us feel more liberated. We want romance, because we want to feel loved and cherished.
The law of attraction states “That which is like unto itself is drawn”
As energetic beings, whatever level we are vibrating at determines what we’re going to attract – it’s a lot like selecting a television channel. There’s no way on God’s green earth that we’re going to see the movie on Mnet if we’re tuned to the SABC! Similarly, if we’re tuned into anxiety, lack, fear, criticism and judgement, that’s precisely what we’re going to bring into our lives.
The Abraham/ Hicks writings suggest that whatever we focus on for 17 seconds or more activates that vibration within us. “Once you activate a vibration within you, the Law of Attraction begins responding to that vibration, and you’re off and running – whether it’s something wanted or unwanted.
So… what would happen if, instead of focussing only upon all the things we have to DO, we spend more time BEING in the state the vast majority of us strive to be in, which is joyful and happy?
SOME QUESTIONS TO PONDER
- What makes your heart sing and how can you bring more of that into your life this year?
- If this was the last year of your life, how would you spend it… seriously ?
- What would you like to attract into your life?
- Most importantly, how would you like to FEEL, who would you like to BE in 2018?
Sound selfish? Well it is your life force, after all and the reality is that when we spend time in “joy” or happiness, we start vibrating at a higher level, which makes us and everybody around us expand and flourish, which in turn attracts more joy … so how can that be a bad thing? On the other hand, when we operate from a place of stress and fear, we project that outwards, by criticising and judging others and in so doing making them smaller, which serves no positive purpose whatsoever.
Whenever I talk to clients and friends about the things they love and desire, I watch how their faces light up. They sit up straighter, start to become animated, their speech changes and their eyes begin to shine – their vibration rises just by connecting with or thinking about what makes them happy.
And then I ask them whether it’s possible for them to spend more time in that state and I watch as the light starts to dim. They start to tell me that due to lack of time and money, too many responsibilities etc, they just can’t find the time to do the things that they’re passionate about. This is soooo sad!
I think one of the reasons so many of us don’t do the things that feed our souls, is that we don’t believe that we deserve to. Somehow, we’ve got the message that denying ourselves enjoyment is somehow noble. Well… I’ve decided that’s a load of hogwash and I’m not buying it anymore.
THE JOY DIET
Life coach Martha Beck, in her book the Joy Diet, suggests that we start connecting with Joy by taking 15 minutes every single day to DO NOTHING (in other words to just BE) – to either sit quietly in one place and relax our body, or if that’s just too difficult, to engage in any repetitive mindless physical activity or to watch a natural motion such as fire, water or wind in the trees.
She adds “The best way to break through any barrier is to access a point of perfect stillness at the centre of your being – a self deeper than your senses or your mind. Every ancient tradition holds that from this still core of the self, this infinite fertile emptiness, springs all that is authentic about you, your identity, your ability to recognise truth, the real operating instructions for your life. We’ve been socialised to believe that doing just about anything is better than doing nothing.”
Perpetually “doing” without ever tuning into the centre of our “being” is like fuelling a mighty ship by tossing all its navigational equipment into the furnace. Fully occupied by achieving innumerable goals, we lose the ability to determine which goals really matter and why. Only by connecting with our innate sense of truth can we ensure that the astonishing wealth and power human beings have created can be used for intelligent benevolent ends. “
She also suggests that, every day, we identify, articulate and explore at least one thing we really want and then visualise ourselves being or doing exactly that. The trick is to actually get to a point where you feel the feeling. At that moment, you start to vibrate on a higher level, which activates the law of attraction.
LETS GO ON VACATION
And so, as the year ends and a new one begins, lets resolve to continue our annual vacation by “vacating” the busyness of our lives every day, rather than once a year. Lets stop often to appreciate the important things, so they don’t pass us by unnoticed – and then, from that place, lets start to see what bubbles up from our souls.
VISION BOARD WORKSHOPS
I am running two Vision Board workshops in January, based on the concepts I’ve written about here. You can join me for a full Saturday (13th or 20th) or spread the process out over 4 Wednesday mornings. They’re filling up very fast, so let me know if you’d like to join us. If you can’t make any of these dates, but would like to get a group together, I’ll consider tailor making one for you.
ASTROLOGY READINGS / PRIVATE COACHING
I’ll be consulting again from 8th January, if you’d like to book a session, to see what’s in store for you in 2018.
To all my friends, colleagues and clients, and to each and every one of you who have read my ramblings, thank you for the role you’ve played in my life this year. Without you, I would not be able to do what makes my heart sing. My wish for each and every one of you, is that 2018 fills your hearts desires.
In life, light and gratitude
